With a background in mental health wards, as well as teaching, the award-winning author is passionate about helping others learn from his experience.

National Mentoring Day was set up to celebrate, inspire and educate and in October 2017 the school set up their first online conference featuring inspirational stories from the world of mentoring. Richard hosted the event which included input from the 2016 winner of The Apprentice, Alana Spencer, the very first Apprentice winner Tim Campbell MBE and Cherie Blair CBE QC.
The School runs a multi-award winning service ACT for Mental Health, an accreditation scheme for employers for mental health provision for staff. In addition, the team also provide training for a volunteer working with refugees for every person they train. The team also worked with the Home Office on preparing training for local authorities as part of the Syrian Resettlement Programme.

Richard is a prolific author and has given social commentary on television, radio, newspapers and in many other publications. He writes regularly for both the Huffington Post and also FE News.
Richard has an international reputation for seeing beyond the behaviour people are displaying, identifying what it means, and how to change it. As a consultant, Richard leads behavioural change in groups, as well as providing 1:1 mentoring for entrepreneurs and leaders.

Richard lives in Southampton with his girlfriend and their baby son. He is just starting a PhD based on the assessments of insecurity and social problems named after him.
