Yorkshire born Billy Pearce emerged from the fertile talent fields of Butlin’s. Being a Redcoat was a great apprenticeship only to be followed by the fruitfiul training grounds of the northern club circuit. Billy is without doubt one of Britain's most talented comedians. If proof were needed for this positive statement of fact, in 1994 he won a British comedy award with top live theatre variety entertainer, an award won against very high profile opposition. Billy, though, is no stranger to awards. In his formative comedy years he was voted club mirror’s solo comedian of the year by his fellow professionals, and followed this with best television comedy newcomer at the London Palladium.
Billy Pearce, who was born in Leeds, first came to national prominence when he appeared in Central TV’s top talent show 'New Faces', winning his heat and qualifying for the final. His impact was immediate and he was quickly snapped up for stage and TV appearances, culminating with his first series for BBC television, 'You Gotta Be Joking'.
In 1993, he was honoured to be chosen to host The Children's Royal Variety Performance screened by the BBC. His success in this prestigious show can be judged by the fact that he was invited to appear on the same show a year later, which he then followed with a laughter-filled appearance on the Royal Variety Performance. In total, Billy has performed in five children’s Royal Variety shows and three Royal Variety shows.
Billy has appeared on Television many times. Including 'Hearbeat', 'Des 0’ Connor Tonight (LWT)'; 'Through the Keyhole', 'National Lottery Live', and 'Can‘t Cook Won't Cook' for BBC TV.
There are few stages upon which Billy has not appeared. He's also broken box office records at a number of theatres including his Summer season at the Blackpool Grand theatre where he's now topped over a 1000 performances with the Billy Pearce Laughter Show and at the Bradford Alhambra in panto, where the theatre took a bank busting one point three million pounds!
Musical theatre has also called, with Billy appearing alongside Jimmy Osmond in the smash hit musical Boogie Nights.
