Greg McHugh started performing standup comedy in 2002 at The Stand Comedy Clubs in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and has since established himself as one the most exciting comedic prospects in the country. Greg has extensive experience as an MC in both corporate and comedy club settings; companies he has worked for to date include BP and Diagio.
Whilst Greg has successfully combined his work as a professional stand-up and actor he has also developed as a prolific writer/performer; securing a broadcast commission in November 2005 from E4, which lead to the creation of ‘Gary Tank Commander’. Gary McLintoch is camp, flamboyant perma-tanned soldier, who returns home from the front to the barracks and offers unique insights into both worlds.
Channel 4 then commissioned Greg to write and perform a mockumentary based on the character of Gary, which aired in June 2008 to great acclaim, entitled Gary’s War.
In 2009 Greg was commissioned to write six-part sitcom called Gary Tank Commander for BBC Scotland. From the success of the first series, the sitcom was commissioned for a second series, which was shown on BBC2 Scotland and a final series was shot in 2012. That was not quite the end of Gary as in 2016 he appeared on TV again with an Election Special where he hilariously interviewed all of Scotland's main political candidates, just prior to the Scottish Parliament elections.

In September 2011 Greg was to play the part of Howard, the only non fresher student amongst six freshers at a fictional Manchester University in Channel 4's comedy sitcom "Fresh Meat". A second series was filmed in 2012.
Greg won a Scottish BAFTA for the C4 comedy lab sketch show Blowout in 2007, and the spin off, The Incredible Will and Greg sketch show which aired on Channel 4. Greg won the Channel 4 Talent award for ‘Best Comedy Performer’ 2008.
Greg is a warm, confident individual who offers flexibility but ultimately a very funny professional performance, which is suited to both large corporate audiences and intimate gatherings. He has the flexibility to host an evening and will consider performing in his Gary Tank Commander persona.
