Nigel Lesmoir-Gordon is an experienced and highly creative producer, writer and director of pop promos, corporate communications and broadcast documentaries. He has a wealth of exciting and thoroughly engaging stories to tell, with many excellent and entertaining films to show.
Nigel's television documentary The Colours of Infinity, a one-hour film presented by Sir Arthur C. Clarke on the discovery of the Mandelbrot Set and the development of Fractal Geometry, has thus far been broadcast in over forty territories world-wide and in four languages. It is available on DVD in Australia, the UK, the USA and throughout Europe. The Colours of Infinity was also broadcast on Channel Four in the UK. David Gilmour, lead guitarist of Pink Floyd wrote and recorded the music for this production.
Following the success of Colours, Nigel has since written, produced and directed the broadcast documentary, Is God a Number? This science documentary looks at the mystery of consciousness and the relationship between maths, the mind and the physical, observable universe. This film features Sir Roger Penrose and Sir John Polkinghorne. Nigel have also made Clouds are not Spheres, a biographical broadcast documentary on the life and work of the mathematician, Benoit Mandelbrot. This documentary was licensed for broadcast in the UK in 2007 by Teacher's TV and has been broadcast in another dozen territories around the world.
Nigel's first book, Introducing Fractals was published by Icon Books in the USA and the UK January 2001.
In 2003, Nigel completed a film called Mandelbrots World of Fractals, which he directed, produced and presented for the National Science Foundation in the USA.
Recently Nigel featured on BBC Radio 4's Last Word discussing the renowned mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot's effect on Nigel, personally and on the world at large, with his discovery of the Mandelbrot set and the development of Fractal Geometry.
His second book, which is based on The Colours of Infinity, was published by Springer in late 2010.
When not covering the wonderful world of fractals, Nigel has a vast number of other projects to work on.
He has produced and directed a half hour documentary with the iconic balladeer Donovan, called There is an Ocean, which Sony have just re-released on DVD in the USA.
Nigel has also produced and directed ground-breaking music promotions for 10cc, Squeeze, Joe Cocker, Leo Sayer, Nazareth, Gordon Giltrap and Paul Nicholas. Nigel also directed TV commercials for Pink Floyd's album, Animals and Paul McCartney's Wings.
Nigel also moved into the live recording environment when he directed multi-camera recordings of concerts, performed by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Big Country, Rainbow, Squeeze, Orchestra Jazira and Orange Juice.
His first feature film, the music-based 'Remember a Day', based on the later life of Pink Floyd's Syd Barrett, is available on DVD. In this film Nigel plays the part of the rock TV journalist. He also directed several episodes of the youth culture series 'Whatever You Want' for Channel Four.
Nigel is available for presentations and keynote speeches and has performed at events all over the UK and Europe.
