Edinburgh based Jojo Sutherland is a charismatic comedienne. She performs in the top comedy clubs across the UK. Jojo is as much demand as a compere, as she is for her comedy routine.
Her natural stage presence combined with her ''healthy neglect'' attitude to children and life in general, has made her a popular choice on the circuit. She is regularly asked to support other high profile comics on tour, most recently, Jenny Eclair and 4 Poofs and a Piano. Jojo has also been chosen as the warm up artist for the BBC1 sitcom The Old Guys.
A regular contributor to several newspapers, Jojo also undertakes a variety of work including radio presenting, voiceovers, theatre performance and film working with the BBC, Caledonia media and 2020 productions among others.
She has performed at The Edinburgh Festival since 2000, with her own theatre company ''One Handed Women''. The company has written and produced several shows including ''Wife Idol The Rivals'' which was based on Jojo's own experience of the award winning Channel 4 programme ''Wife Swap'' which she and her family appeared on in 2004.
In 2006, Jojo performed her first full length stand up show ''Funny Money'', to great acclaim. This show portrayed her unusual childhood upbringing. Jojo was brought up in a castle with her eccentric parents and a kaleidoscope of colourful characters. Her father was the celebrated author Major Douglas Sutherland and some of the characters who came to visit included Robert Helpmann, the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the comedian Dave Allen and the author Jilly Cooper.
In 2009 Jojo performed her second stand up show ''Jojo Sutherland Stands up for Herself'' at the famous Stand Comedy Club.
She returns to The Stand Comedy Club this year, as part of a record number of females, performing a solo show, ''Jojo Sutherland Goes for the Jocular''. The show is a gag filled hour of grumps and moans about all the little bees in Jojo's bonnet.
