go back to the previous pageJonathan Maitland was a law graduate from London University started as a radio reporter for the Today Programme. He covered, amongst other things, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Gulf War, an attempted assassination of Prince Charles, and a lot of stories about rhododendron bushes and pop music. After six years of not being taken seriously by pompous producers he went on to present the sport for BBC Breakfast News, and also reported for the BBCs national news bulletins.
Then it was off to Watchdog, to present and co report with Ann Robinson for three years. He ran into problems when he referred to her on air as ''The Red Snapper'' and ''Annie Baby'' but survived long enough to present a show on food, on BBC1 ''The Big Dinner''
He then went to ITV to act as a roving correspondentpresenter for ''Tonight With Trevor McDonald'', the RTS Programme of the Year 2003. He also presents ''House of Horrors'' on ITV, a show about dodgy builders, now in its 5th series, which was nominated for a BAFTA in 2001.
Jonathan also wrote a best selling book called ''How To Make Your Million From The Internet (and what to do if you don't)'' in which he mortgaged his house for 50k and tried to make a million in the Dotcom boom. He lost the lot. Which is why he is available for corporates. He has also written books on Eva Cassidy, and the (almost successful) attempt by his wedding band, Surf 'n' Turf to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2002.
He also writes articles on a variety of subjects for The Daily Mail, The Times, The Mail on Sunday, The Express, The Guardian and The Independent.
His interests and passions include the usual i.e. music, cricket, golf, football, rugby and the slightly les usual, i.e. Scrabble, the Stock Market, and knitting.
