Selina Scott has anchored flagship current affairs shows in both the UK and the USA. ITN first headhunted her in 1981 for its prestigious News At Ten. She then became the first woman to launch Breakfast Television in the UK, fronting the BBC's Breakfast Time in 1983. Selina went on to break new ground with the UK's first fashion magazine programme The Clothes Show, also for the BBC.
In 1986 the American network CBS came looking for Selina to co-anchor its award winning coast to coast current affairs show West 57th. She went on assignment for West 57th to Africa and Europe as well as covering headline issues in the US. Selina Scott was the first journalist in the world to expose the cruel ivory trafficking trade in Kenya. Her work in highlighting the slaughter of elephants led directly to a new CITIES agreement made in Washington, which effectively banned the poaching of ivory.
Selina went on to work with another American network NBC on her own talk show The Selina Scott Show - which was aired nightly throughout Europe.
Selina has also produced highly acclaimed documentaries on the royal Heads of Europe including A Prince Among Islands, a profile on Prince Charles, a film with King Juan Carlos of Spain (which achieved record viewing figures for a documentary in Spain) and The Return of the King, travelling with King Constantine to Greece after 25 years of exile.
Selina now divides her time between London and Yorkshire where she has a farm of angora goats which is now a thriving mohair socks business.
