Karen Dunbar is one of Scotland's hottest properties, which in 2015 saw Karen named role model of the year at the first Icon Awards in Glasgow.
A familier name in theatre, Karen still regularly stars in some of Scottish television's top comedy programmes including Chewin' the Fat and The Karen Dunbar Show.
Originally from Ayr, Karen was a popular and talented DJ and karaoke host for ten years until The Comedy Unit put her to work on their BBC Radio Scotland sketch show, Chewin' the Fat, which transferred to television in 1999. The rest is history with a number of further series commissioned, as well as the phenomenally popular Hogmanay specials which are watched year on year by over a million viewers north of the border.
Hailed as Scotland's funniest female, Karen is versatile enough to play a toothless hag and a dazzling femme fatale. The Karen Dunbar Show was a huge success, receiving two nominations for the coveted Rose D'Or Awards, and Karen herself received a nomination for Best Comedy Performance.
Karen sold out her live shows in Glasgow during the International Comedy Festival and during the festive season, she has regularly featured in Glasgow's Pantomimes at the King's Theatre.
Karen performed Denise Mina's monologue A Drunk Woman looks at the Thistle at both Oran Mor Theatre in Glasgow and then again at the Assembly Rooms during the Edinburgh Festival. For her performance at Oran Mor, Karen was nominated for The Solo Performer Stage Award for Acting Excellence.
