Amanda Saville was born in Kenya and has been involved with horses since the age of two. After returning to the UK, she rode and competed through Prince Philip Cup Games, hunter trials, dressage, eventing and carriage driving. She has trained with high calibre professionals in all the disciplines and spent two years in Germany training with a dressage Rietmaster.
As well as her equestrian background she has had a wealth of experience in sales and marketing, working for a number of companies in retail and manufacturing. This involved extensive travelling in the USA and UK where company sales were her sole responsibility. Using this experience and her natural communicating ability she has been involved with large companies in their management training programmes for interpersonal skills and motivation (eg. Accenture).
In 1995 Amanda set up the Chariots of Fire Display Team a stunt carriage driving performance that has travelled throughout Britain for the past 12 years. The reaction to the display team and the delight of audiences encouraged her to set up a permanent base in Scotland to expand her breaking and training, and teaching. The Chariots of Fire Driving Centre was established in 1998 and has become a real local and national focal point. It provides not only employment but also a safe, caring, exciting and disciplined environment where interested people can develop their natural skills that often get overlooked these days.
In 2003 Amanda set up the first carriage driving club dedicated to bringing children into the sport the Junior Chariots Carriage Driving Club. She has inspired many young people (and older ones too!) to take up the sport thanks to her unparalleled energy and zest, instigating the first ever annual National Junior Carriage Driving Championship in 2004.
Amandas own competition record is impressive when you consider that she cares for up to eight young drivers as well as concentrating on her own effort at the competitions. She was National Single Pony Champion in 2002, Scottish Indoor Pony Champion in 2003. In 2004 she was overall Scottish Indoor Champion the first pony pair ever to win the title! The title was retained for the 2005 and 2006 seasons and Reserve Champion for 2007. She added the National Indoor Pairs Championship to her tally in 2005 and Reserve Champion is 2006 and regained the Championship in 2007.
Amanda is on the Council and the Training, Marketing and Drivers with Disabilities sub-Committees of the British Horse Driving Trials Association. She has recently been voted onto ACTA (Animal Consultants and Trainers Association) the organisation involved in the film and entertainment industries and is also a member of Equity.
