Miranda Krestovnikoff is the new female face of wildlife on BBC1's popular ''The ONE show'' - presenting wildlife pieces from around the country and appearing regularly in the studio for discussion. The show is broadcast at 7 p.m. every weekday and reaches audiences of over 5.5 million.
Miranda was recently involved in a TV first - with a live link from the studio to her diving with rays in the London Aquarium!
Miranda first came to notice as one of the BBC Coast presenters along with Neil Oliver, Nicholas Crane, Alice Roberts, and Mark Horton. Series three also sees Hermione Cockburn and Dick Strawbridge presenting.
In Coast, Miranda was usually found in the sea 10 to 20 meters below the surface, discovering the culinary and therapeutic properties of seaweed, dolphin watching in South Wales or swimming with the second biggest fish in the sea the basking shark.
She was described by Dive Magazine as 'The highest profile Wreck diver in Britain. She represents a new breed of wreck divers one to whom the idea of removing a porthole would never occur.
Miranda was born in 1973 in Buckinghamshire She has always loved to be outdoors and spent much of her early childhood climbing trees and walking barefoot in the local woods. Her passion for wildlife started early on by observing animals in the wild and keeping a veritable menagerie at home in the laundry room!
She was educated at school in Reading and went onto study Zoology at Bristol University. From here, she caught the wildlife filmmaking bug and even before graduating, secured work at the BBC Natural History Unit. Moving from Runner to Researcher, she worked at other production companies in Bristol before a lucky break into presenting in 1999 for Fox Television. This first break into presenting gave her the opportunity to travel and present conservation stories from around the globe. From this, she moved onto presenting projects as diverse as metals detecting, local history and marine conservation. She has written about her experiences for various publications including 'Diver' magazine. She hopes to convey her passion for wildlife conservation and the environment through her work as a presenter.
Miranda has worked on many programmes. In 2007 she filmed a landmark series for the BBC called The Nature of Britain, presented by Alan Titchmarsh. Miranda is also a presenter of ITV's 'Countrylife' a wildlife and countryside series.
Another passion of Miranda's is music and she plays flute with the well-established and highly acclaimed Bristol-based orchestra the New Bristol Sinfonia.
