Stephen Jardine is a journalist. A former Scotland Today presenter and broadcaster, Stephen continues to front a huge range of TV and radio programmes for the BBC. He is one of SpeakOut’s most popular hosts and facilitators for awards and conferences.
Stephen started his career with STV as a reporter. However, he quickly moved on and in 1993 he became Scotland Correspondent for GMTV. He stayed with them for six years and became their Europe Correspondent while based in Paris. He also spent some time presenting as their London based correspondent and presenter on the station.
Seven years later Stephen Jardine was back in Scotland and he was now covering a wide range of programmes for STV including documentaries, live events, a daily talk show and of course, the flagship news programme “Scotland Today”, which he hosted alongside Kirsty Young, Shereen Nanjiani and Viv Lumsden.
Stephen is currently presenting TV and radio on BBC Scotland. He also writes for various newspapers including The Times and The Scotsman. Described by that newspaper as “one of the most distinguished television journalists working outside London”, Stephen is a past winner of a Royal Television Society award.

In 2019 Stephen took the reigns of BBC Scotland’s new programme ‘Debate Night‘. The programme features politicians and public figures who would answer questions on current affairs from the public audience.
