John Gahagen spent eleven years with Motherwell FC - the club he had supported as a boy, playing under such famous men as Ally McLeod, Davie Hay, Jock Wallace and Tommy McLean, winning two first division championship medals in 1981 and 1985.
After a glorious testimonial season in 1990, John moved to Greenock Morton where he spent four years under his favourite manager, Alan McGraw, before retiring in 1994
John is a fully qualified coach holding an A diploma and spent 3 very successful years as the S.F.A. football development officer in Clackmannanshire, Johns tales of woe about life in and out of football have whipped up a comical storm at every conceivable venue including the Scottish Sports Writers and Scottish Footballers Association Player of the Year Awards where he received standing ovations on both occasions.
In June 2001, John received the MBN trophy after being voted Scottish Sporting Speaker of the Year.
Whether flirting with triumph or disaster Johns philosophy has always been the same Youve got to laugh.
