Bill Leckie’s unique stories have grown out of more than 20 years of travelling the world covering major sport and news stories. He has reported from five World Cups, five European Championships, seven Champions League finals, the Olympic and Commonwealth Games, four General Elections and the tenth anniversary of 9/11 in a career that has taken him to 73 countries.
Twice named Scottish Sports Journalist of the Year and three times Scottish Columnist of the Year, Bill Leckie’s colourful and no-nonsense style easily transfers to the after-dinner scene.
As an event host, Bill fronted the Irn Bru Scottish Football League Awards from 2007 to 2013, the Celebrity Chef Theatre at the 2013 Scottish Ideal Home Show and the 2014 Press Ball. He has also conducted on-stage interviews with top names such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Scotland manager Gordon Strachan and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
A keen supporter of charitable functions, Bill Leckie has run a decade of marathons for Macmillan Cancer Support, climbed volcanoes in Ecuador for the British Heart Foundation and walked the Great Wall of China for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
