Edith Forrest is a lawyer who is regularly engaged as a speaker at Burns Suppers and corporate events. These include oil industry dinners, Faculty of Advocates events, numerous police Burns Suppers including appearances at both the final Strathclyde Police and Falkirk Police Burns Suppers before the creation of the single Police Force for Scotland.
Edith Forrest is an Advocate. She was called to the Scottish Legal Bar in 2007. Prior to that she was a solicitor in private practice. She specialises in a number of areas of law, with a focus on Crime where she has experience in both prosecuting and defending criminal cases. Edith has been involved in many high profile cases from basic breaches of the peace through to the most serious crimes of murder, terrorism and large scale financial fraud. She also appears in Fatal Accident and other Public Enquiries.
Edith Forrest also acts in Employment law and Professional Disciplinary matters.
Her legal career began in deepest darkest Lanarkshire, where she did more criminal defence work than Professional Disciplinary cases! From there she went on to work in Personal Injury Law, Criminal Defence and was latterly a Procurator Fiscal in Paisley before calling to the Bar. Much of her content draws on her experiences from her unusual yet fascinating line of work.
Edith has travelled the length and breadth of the country for speaking events and has also appeared at events abroad. She recalls speaking at a Burns Supper in Kazakhstan at the invitation of the Late Lord Fraser as “the best Burns Supper ever”.
Edith is available for Burns Suppers, After Dinner speaking, Ladies Lunches and corporate events.
SOME RECOMMENDATIONS:
“Edith was a very glamourous professional who had clearly sussed out her audience beforehand and struck a very natural balance with her humour.”

“Please may you pass on to Edith my sincere thanks for her significant contribution to a great evening on Thursday. I thought Edith’s Reply captured the essence of Burns and his take on women not to mention that it was highly entertaining and consummately delivered. We all enjoyed it thoroughly and I have had so many compliments on her behalf, so well done…and thank you again!”
Cara Norfolk Society of Scottish Lawyers in London.
“Edith provided an extremely entertaining and well received “reply from the lassies” at the final Strathclyde Police Burns Supper…She was extremely popular with the attendees and we will seek her return to the Police Scotland event in the years to come”
Superintendent Niven Rennie, Police Scotland
“Edith is a confident and polished performer and her after dinner speeches are as clever as they are entertaining. Moreover, she brings something new and refreshing to the party – the woman’s perspective on the world of crime and the criminal law. With her anecdotes and personal observations, Edith is carving a name for herself as an after dinner speaker of the highest quality”.
