Most people will remember first seeing Nick Hewer when he appeared as Sir Alan Sugar’s right hand man in the BBC’s Apprentice. He still remains as an adviser to the now Lord Sugar but in 2012, Nick’s new found television career moved on as he took over from Jeff Stelling to present Channel 4’s popular long running (started in 1982) game show, Countdown. He left the programme in June 2021. Nick also appeared as a guest and panellist in a number of popular TV shows such as, Have I got News For You and Room 101 and in 2018 he was a contestant in The Great Celebrity Bake Off.
Before Nick arrived on our screens, his background was in PR. He started his own company back in the mid 60’s and he ended up working within the management team at Armstrad. Working closely with Lord Sugar they became good friends and in the early 80’s. Nick’s PR company were then hired by Armstrad to represent them. Nick sold the company in 1998.
After early retirement, Nick Hewer moved to France but he remained in touch with Lord Sugar and was later asked to get involved with a new TV show that Lord Sugar was to be involved with called The Apprentice. Lord Sugar then persuaded Nick to take an on-screen role in the series. Along with his opposite number in the show Magaret Mountford, Nick was seen following the progress of the male contestants as they performed the various tasks set by Lord Sugar. Nick and Margaret (who watched over the females) would then both report back on the progress and their own thoughts on the teams and the individual contestants.
Nick Hewer is now available for hosting and Q&A sessions. Nick is always delighted to take questions from the audience.
