George Clarke is widely known as ‘The Restoration Man‘. He is an architect, writer and lecturer and these days, a very familiar face on our TV screens.
George’s talent for design and his passion for beautiful buildings have transformed the homes and lives of many people across Britain.
He is a northern lad, born and raised in Sunderland. From his schooldays, he always wanted to be an architect. After studying architecture at the University of Newcastle and University College London, George achieved that ambition. He then went on to set up his own practice with business partner Bobby Desai.
George’s successful TV career began in 2003 on the Build a New Life series for Channel 5. He completed three series from 2003 -2006 and also worked on Dream Home Abroad and Build a New Life in the Country.
He then moved to Ch4, where, with the launch of The Home Show, George became the face of architecture. Subsequent hugely popular shows, Restoration Man in 2009 and also the pioneering series The Empty Homes Show in 2011, have established George as one of the most popular and well known architects ever to appear on TV in the UK.
Never one to rest on his laurels, George, through his innovative new company (George Clarke & Partners), TV presenting, lecturing and research, aims to make architecture popular and accessible to all. A major part of his mission is also to share his passion for architecture’s ability to transform our everyday lives.
George Clarke has published a number of books. His latest is Building a Home which should be on the shelves in February 2024.
