Andrew Neil is a journalist, publisher, broadcaster and company chairman. He work out of London, New York, Dubai and the South of France.
Since 2008 he has been Chairman of The Spectator. He is a former Chief Executive of Press Holdings Media Group and a former Chairman of ITP. ITP is the biggest magazine publisher in the Gulf (based in Dubai). He was also a former Chairman and joint owner of World Media Rights (WMR). WMR owns and exploits TV rights and formats across the globe.
In addition to his business responsibilities, Andrew was a well-known anchor man on BBC TV. Up until 2020, he presented four editions of the Daily Politics on BBC2 every week and the award-winning This Week on BBC1. For four years he also presented Straight Talk with Andrew Neil on the BBC News Channel.
Andrew left the BBC in 2020. He then became the founding Chairman of GB News, a post which he resigned in 2021. He currently is working with Ch4 on presenting a weekly politics programme plus a podcast.
During his career, Andrew has been House of Commons lobby correspondent, White House correspondent, Wall Street correspondent and British Editor of The Economist, Editor of The Sunday Times of London and Executive Chairman of Sky Television, which he launched in 1989 as Britain’s first multi-channel satellite TV platform.
He was a member of the International Advisory Board of Al Jazeera, the international news channel based in Doha, Qatar; and Publisher of The Scotsman Group of newspapers in Edinburgh.
Andrew Neil journalist has lectured on politics, economics, international relations, business and the digital revolution. He has spoken to some of the most important companies in the world, from Microsoft to HSBC.
Born in Scotland, he graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1971 with an MA (Hons) in Political Economy, Political Science and American History.
In October 1996 Macmillan published his autobiography “Full Disclosure”, on his Sunday Times and Sky TV years, which was serialized in Vanity Fair in America and the Daily Mail in Britain.
Andrew is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts (FRSA) and holds several honorary degrees. In the autumn of 1999 he was elected Lord Rector of the University of St Andrews. It is one of the oldest and most distinguished universities in the world. On stepping down from that post he was made a Doctor of Laws by the university.
When not chairing companies or presenting TV shows he likes to ride his bike and occasionally speak at after dinner events.
