Trevor Marriott is a retired British Police murder squad detective who joined the Police service in 1970 and was soon promoted to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where he was involved in the investigation of many murders as well as assisting in the investigation of many other major crimes throughout his long and distinguished career

As a murder squad detective he had for many years been fascinated with the mystery of Jack the Ripper and The Whitechapel murders so much so that he knew one day he would have to satisfy that curiosity. In later years, and with more free time on his hands, he decided to reinvestigate these unsolved murders. He felt that all the experience, knowledge and insight into the criminal mind he had gained by interviewing and talking to murderers, rapists and robbers over the years would be invaluable in an attempt to view the murders through the eyes of the killer and also for him to be able to use his own individual investigative techniques in the process.

He carefully studied all aspects of the murders themselves, and all the evidence relating to the prime suspects, which has emerged over the past 120 years, with a view to either proving or disproving some of the accepted theories surrounding the murders. In doing so he hoped he might find something new that would unlock the mystery of Jack the Ripper's identity.

What he discovered during the investigation was startling. He was able to now cast a major doubt as to the actual number of victims killed by Jack the Ripper and some of the accepted theories surrounding the mystery.

Through his investigation he was able to pursue a new line of enquiry which had never been previously undertaken by the police in London in 1888. This led him to a new suspect and new evidence to show that Jack the Ripper could have murdered other women in similar fashion in The USA and Germany between 1888-1894, thus making him the world's first transcontinental serial killer. His investigation finally led him to finally unlock the mystery of Jack the Ripper and enabled him to identify and name a new prime suspect and to show what fate befell him.

Trevor is in great demand in the UK and worldwide as a guest speaker and lecturer not only at conventional speaking engagements such as Chamber of Commerce events, Colleges, Universities and Police training centres, but also with the major cruise lines (Cunard. P&O and Princess Cruises.) His audio visual power point presentation titled ''Jack the Ripper - The 21st Century Investigation'' lasts 60 minutes during which he shows original crime scene and mortuary photos.

Trevor Marriott has to date published two books the first titled Jack the Ripper-The 21st Century Investigation and the most recent titled ''The Evil Within'' ''The World's Worst Serial Killers'' this contains an extended chapter on Jack the Ripper documenting new evidence and photographs relating to the which are not contained in the first book.

In the autumn of 2010 he will be actively involved in the filming of a new documentary on his investigation into Jack the Ripper. This programme will be shown worldwide in 2011. In addition a new book detailing further investigative work which revealed even more new evidence will be published to coincide with the airing of the programme.
