Jojo Sutherland is a charismatic Scottish comedienne. She performs in the top comedy clubs across the UK. Jojo is as much demand as a compere, as she is for her comedy routine.
Her natural stage presence combined with her ”healthy neglect” attitude to children and life in general, has made her a popular choice on the circuit. She is regularly asked to support other high profile comics on tour. More recently, Milton Jones, Jenny Eclair and 4 Poofs and a Piano. Jojo Sutherland was the warm up artist for the BBC1 sitcom The Old Guys. In 2020 she was meant to be support for Jonanthan Pie’s tour which was postponed due to Covid-19.
Throughout 2022, Jojo along with fellow comedian Bruce Devlin started a Podcast called Be Honest. It’s still available to listen to on Apple Podcasts.
Jojo is not just a comedian, she also does business speaking and workshops on communication, Team-work and speaking skills.
A regular contributor to several newspapers, Jojo Sutherland also undertakes a variety of work including radio presenting, voiceovers, theatre performance and film. She works with the BBC, Caledonia media and also 2020 productions among others.
Edinburgh Fringe:
She has performed at The Edinburgh Festival since 2000, with her own theatre company ”One Handed Women”. The company has written and produced several shows including ”Wife Idol The Rivals” which was based on Jojo’s own experience of the award winning Channel 4 programme ”Wife Swap” which she and her family appeared on in 2004.
In 2006, Jojo performed her first full length stand up show ”Funny Money”, to great acclaim. This show portrayed her unusual childhood upbringing. Jojo was brought up in a castle with her eccentric parents and a kaleidoscope of colourful characters. Her father was the celebrated author Major Douglas Sutherland and some of the characters who came to visit included Robert Helpmann, the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Also the comedian Dave Allen and the author Jilly Cooper.
From 2009 Jojo Sutherland has regularly performed at The Fringe and usually at the famous Stand Comedy Club.
In 2023 at Just The Tonic comedy club in Edinburgh, Jojo will be supporting fellow comedian and star of Mock The Week, Milton Jones.
