Sergio Lamarra attended and was crowned the winner of the Wits Dinner at Prestonfield House in Edinburgh 2004, a prestigious after dinner speaker benefit event for St Columbas Hospice, hosted by Jim Leishman in its twenty fourth year.

Despite the name, Sergio is Bishopbriggs born and bred. Bishopbriggs being a north-east suburb of Glasgow. The Embra train runs through it.
