Mike Catt MBE

Mike Catt MBE is the legendary England Rugy Internationalist and fly half, centre for London Irish.
Michael John Catt was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Mike's mother was English, and in a break from his academic studies he toured England. At that time, South Africa was banned from all international sporting competitions because of their apartheid policy.
Mike made his England debut in 1994 and was part of England's 1995 Grand Slam winning side. He played in the 1995 Rugby World Cup and in the 1997 British Lions tour to South Africa.
After the retirement of Will Carling and Jeremy Guscott in 1999, Mike Catt became an inside centre alongside the equally legendary Johnny Wilkinson.
Mike was named Guinness Premiership Player of the Season 2005 2006
He performed heroically for England in the 2007 Rugby World Cup, leading England to the final, eventually losing to South Africa.
Mike Catt set a record for England with his eleventh Test appearance in matches against Australia, when he ran out for the International team at Melbourne in June 2006.
The 2007 Rugby World Cup was an extraordinary experience for Mike Catt. Mike went from being dropped and distraught to reach the heights of playing in the final itself and all in the space of three short weeks. Having announced his retirement, he has also released his auto biography, the book entitled 'Landing On My Feet My Story'.
