Matt Allwright started presenting on television in 1996 when he first appeared as a reporter on BBC’s Watchdog. Since then Matt has been a regular face on our TV screens
In 2003 Matt Allwright presented his own and highly popular consumer show programme, Rogue Traders. Matt initially worked with co-host and private investigator Dan Penteado. They were known for getting about on Dan’s motorbike while Matt filmed sitting pillion. They would set up surveillance and finally confront the traders themselves with the gathered evidence. Rogue Traders eventually merged in 2009 with another consumer programme, Watchdog which was at that time being hosted by Anne Robinson.
Other programmes include You’ve Been Scammed, Food Inspectors and Fake Britain which ran for three years. More recently in 2019 Matt started presenting Britain’s Housing Scandal on BBC1. 2020 saw him co-present Your Money and Your Life, also for BBC.
In 2004 he appeared on series 2 of Celebrity Mastermind. His favourite subject was the US film makers, The Coen Brothers. Matt Allwright was the overall winner.
Matt wrote a book in 2020 about his dealings with scammers, rouge traders and bad service in general. In it he gives helpful advice. You can buy the book from Amazon here: Watchdog: The Consumer Survival Guide
