Kate Garraway

Kate Garraway is best known for presenting on GMTV. She regularly presents on the sofa every Thursday and Friday. During her time at GMTV she has had her own travel strand, Where on Earth?, and presented live from Cannes during the Film Festival.
Most recently Kate has been presenting ITVs This Morning, alongside Philip Schofield. She also presented the cookery programme Too Many Cooks and has appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks twice. She has guest presented for ITVs Loose Women and has hosted the Inside Soap Awards for Living TV, presented Pet Rehab for ITV and co-presented the Access Hollywood series for Living TV where she mingled with celebrities and reported back on all the showbiz gossip.
Previous to this Kate spent two years as the main anchor on Sky News prestigious prime time four-hour breakfast show Sunrise. She won acclaim for her coverage of the Kosovan Crisis, the Paddington Rail Disaster and the Turkish Earthquake Disaster as well as numerous other major rolling news stories. She was also chosen by Sky to host their live Oscar Special and to launch their 48-hour live Millennium coverage.
Kates career started in BBC Radio. She then became an Independent Television News trainee journalist in 1994 and went on to work as a production journalist and reporter with Central News.
In 1995, while presenting news bulletins for Central Television, she was spotted by Meridians then Head of News, after he caught one of her three minute bulletins and she was made an offer which led to her becoming the main presenter on Meridian Tonight.
After two years at Meridian, she was picked as one of the team of presenters to launch News 24, the BBCs 24-hour rolling news channel. It was here that she anchored programmes such as the signing of the Good Friday Agreement. Kate was then offered her presenting role for Sky Television where she anchored live news programmes covering the bombing of Iraq and many other news events. She also presented Beef Encounter for Channel 4 with Jon Snow a current affairs special on the B.S.E. enquiry
When Kate has any spare time she is a very keen gardener and loves to catch up with friends. Recently married to Derek Draper, Kate is expecting her first baby in Spring 2006.
