Isla Traquair

Isla Traquair started her TV career as a reporter and presenter for Grampian Television's nightly news programme North Tonight. She's a determined and incredibly nosey little madam who has come far in her journalism career despite her young age, but that's because she got an incredibly early start - bagging her first job and first national front page story at fifteen.
After establishing herself as a newspaper journalist, specialising in crime and court reporting, Isla made the jump into television and has never looked back. A skilled television journalist, Isla covered some of the biggest stories and events in the north of Scotland during her time with Grampian. The job also took her to far flung places such as remote Uganda, Holland and Fraserburgh.
Not content with just sticking to news, Isla went undercover researching, interviewing and writing much of Grampian and Scottish Television's extremely successful series Unsolved, which looks into some of Scotland's most baffling murders. Isla also fronted the final studio-based update programme for the series.
Along the way, Isla has picked up a large amount of source material from all the weird and wonderful people she has met and situations she has been in.
She left STV for ITV News in November 2006. Her style and character as presented in the course of news bulletins are quite distinctive, managing to achieve smart, businesslike presentation without sacrificing a natural tone. She has described herself as 'nosy', and commented that she does not let her tendency to dress commendably smartly and elegantly for the job of reporting get in the way of its more strenuous requirements 'I have seen myself on many occasions climbing over fences, traipsing through muddy fields, getting soaked in the rain standing at some harbour and all while wearing my extremely impractical stilettos'.
On Friday 15 June 2007, true to form, ITV News bulletins broadcast several of her reports on that day's flooding in and around the English midlands, showing her standing at the edge of floodwaters, and even walking through shallow pools and across muddy patches. English newspapers have described her, with a certain inevitability, as 'the new Kirsty Young'.
Isla Traquair is now a BSkyB reporter and currently presents 5 News along with Natasha Kaplinsky.
