Nick Knowles is a television presenter who pushes the boundaries of presentation with a journalistic integrity laced with an infectious sense of humour! BBC’s DIY SOS, RTS Award Winning City Hospital, UKs Worst, Secrets of Magic, Put It To The Test. His contributions to BBCs Millennium Night TV revealed his huge input to Comic Relief’s projects in Africa, especially Tanzania.
Add to this the History series HISTORYONICS written and conceived by Nick – and you start to get the bigger picture especially when you add ITV’s ground – breaking live news show Bafta nominated Straight Up plus Wish You Were Here. He also presented & directed ITVs Holiday Makers and worked the live studio for Find A Fortune (also ITV).
It was in 1999 that we first saw Nick in DIY SOS. Home makeover programmes were not new to television but Nick had put a new slant on them. DIY SOS was design, build and renovate and it was usually only part of a house. Often it was sorting out a mess made by the property owners. The show was a huge success and in 2010 the name was changed to include The Big Build. The show was now an hour long and was now helping families who needed help. Currently there are more than 240 episodes and series 32 was starting in 2022.
Nick is master of live TV He has a journalists ability to think on his feet, grasp the salient points and with utter appropriate wit and wisdom from a totally unique (and often unexpected!) standpoint.
Nick brings the eye of a talented director to much of his feature work. His direction of the prestigious film 30 Years of ITV is a landmark. His films for Meridian TV’s News & Coast To Coast, ITV’s Road Show and Straight Up and BBC’s Put it To The Test have been works of art, an art he applied also to the likes of GMTV, BSKYB and Anglia TV.
In 2018 Nick was in the jungle. He had joined as a contestant of I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! Nick lasted 19 days to finish in 6th place.
