Tommy Walsh is a builder on many TV DIY shows. He originally got involved in Ground Force whilst he was doing private building work for the executive producer, she invited him for a screen test and the rest is history. Ground Force has gone from strength to strength including huge success in America.
Not to mention Tommy’s Paint Pad adverts, he now also has his own brand of DIY products that can be found on the UK’s High Streets.
Tommy has also presented several DIY shows for Discovery. DIY Survival & Challenge Tommy (3 series). Other credits include presenting BBC’s Death by Gardening and Keeping up with the Walshes. There was also, My Life as a DIY Nutter.
2021 saw Tommy join Martin Roberts as a new presenter on BBC’s Homes Under The Hammer. He is also part of the team on BBC1’s Clean It, Fix It. This is where three DIY experts help a household, sorting out their home to make it loveable again. Tommy is the builder, Maxine Dwyer is the extreme cleaner and Asher Edwards is the expert carpenter.
DIY being Tommy’s main thing, it was inevitable the books would follow. The first of his DIY books was Tommy Wash DIY survival in 2002. This was in the UK’s bestsellers list. This was followed by Outdoor DIY, Bathroom DIY, Kitchen DIY and also Living Spaces DIY. We think you get the picture but we should also mention in early 2000 the release of Tommy’s BBC book, Ground Force: Practical Garden Projects.
