Jimmy Carr

 Jimmy Carr
Jimmy Carr is a non-stop, deadpan, posh-sounding and slightly bewildered joker with a lethal line in killer gags. His road to notoriety began not so long ago when he won the Time Out Best Stand-Up Award.

At the Royal Variety Show he blew the audience away with one of those don't know who the hell he is, how dare he be stealing the show? performances and commentators all seem to agree that a huge new UK talent had been uncovered with the Evening Standard describing him as 'England's answer to Emo Phillips'.

He made his first big mark on TV on Channel 4's popular new quiz show Your Face or Mine? (an opportunity for him to humiliate daft adolescents) and now seems on target for TV and stand-up stardom.

Jimmy gave up a 'proper' job to pursue his comedy ambitions just a few years ago. He said It's hard to believe that so recently I was doing the nine-to-five in marketing for an oil company.

He toured a hugely successful show Big and Daft and has performed alongside the likes of Phil Kay and Lee Mack.

Recently, Jimmy has hosted two hit Channel 4 series The Friday Night Project and most recently 8 out of 10 Cats, gaining an audience of 5 million viewers for its last show. A 2nd and 3rd series of 8 out of 10 Cats are now confirmed for 2006.

Jimmys first DVD has now sold over 150,000 copies and his second stand-up DVD has overtaken this already.

Jimmy will soon be seen on the big screen, having completed three films Confetti, Alien Autopsy, and Storm Breaker, all due for release in 2006.

Jimmy can be heard on Londons 104.9 XFM every Sunday morning where he presents the breakfast show from 10.00am to 12.00. He is also a regular guest and interviewer on Loose Ends (Radio 4) and The Fred McCauley Show (BBC Radio Scotland).

As would be expected of a comedian with a soaring international profile, Jimmy Carr also performs at the 2 key comedy festivals he returns to the Montreal 'Just for Laughs' Festival for the third time, in July 2006, and in Aspen at the International Comedy Arts Festival.
