Alastair Campbell is well known for being Tony Blair's press secretary. He was given the post of official spokesman in 1994.

Before moving into the political arena, Alastair studied modern languages at Cambridge and carved out a career in journalism, becoming news editor of Today at the age of 29. Alastair's career in the media was so successful that he became political editor of the Daily Mirror. Whilst holding this post, he was also one of Labour leader Neil Kinnock's closest advisers. He then moved on to take up the role that was to eventually make him a household name, spokesman for Tony Blair.

The Labour victory in 1997 saw Alastair become chief press secretary to the new Prime Minister, Tony Blair.
